Processing and final moments.

excavating dreams

The plaster moulds didn't work as planned the mixture was too lumpy and flaky. Therefore, instead of getting perfect moulds to then slump glass into, I got even better results. Whilst 'destroying' the moulds, i got fragments of the moulds and interesting results. I thought the moulds would work out but turns out the fragments worked out better. Chipping away at the fragments brought around ideas of excavation and archaeological exploration which was really interesting. I felt like i was dusting off dinosaur bones or something. I liked the idea of presenting the fragments like bones or archival objects from centuries ago.

Glass slumping scientific glass over fragments of plaster.

The fragments remind me of rocks and resemble mini mountains and hillsides on their own.

After slumping, the test tube and petri dish came out the best in my opinion. The thicker circles of glass did not slump as well i think due to my positioning and also because they were too thick. I might slump them again and see if once placed over a different mould they slump better.

playing around with lighting and refraction from the glass. Wish I could've rented out the projector to project onto the glass but the projector was fully booked out.

playing around with the archival aspect of things.

collections of found and made objects.

messing around with the scanner. really love the way glass looks once scanned, it reminds me of ice and i love the refraction of light through the layered glass pieces.
