Semester Two - week 13

Writer's picture: Declan McCourtDeclan McCourt

back outside again seeing how certain aspects of my work look within a different environment. the tulle has a life of its own when the wind blows it and it flows well with the surrounding space, there's something quite magical about it almost like an apparition which relates back to my work with the figures and smoke. my installations have been bleeding into various worlds like my drawings intend to, the installations act as a physical interpretation of my drawings and paintings - more like an extension. for them to be found within a natural environment is nothing new but to take them there and actually see for myself what they look look like ( rather than imagine)and what they interact with is something else and helps elevate my ideas. I'm still leaning more towards the studio environments at the moment but the natural landscapes are still as crucial and appealing, i think i need more material and objects to curate a space outside of a space that's too prescribed like a studio can be at times.

the perspex and tulle move which is something i love, like living drawings or figures in a landscape.
