forms, friends and feelings
trying to keep my creative spirit alive by continuing with exploring some ideas I had been cooking over winter break. I liked the idea of taking the forms off the wall and onto the viewer or person in this case - me. i'd been watching a lot of Iris Van Herpen videos and runway shows and just found myself in awe at the construction and execution of her ideas. Ive always been interested in fashion and making things durable and interactive but found myself put off by fast fashion and after watching countless documentaries on the effects of the fashion industry (toxic dyes, landfill, river pollution etc) i never found myself delving into that aspect of art. However, being home, i found some left over canvas and decided to play around with it and see what it could give me. The forms were interesting and exciting but I'm not too sure if it's something i'd wanna continue with, i'm not too sure and the thought of having to construct a piece of clothing and consider all the ergonomics to go alongside it doesn't seem feasible at the moment, despite this, it is still fun to experiment with the possibility and see where it takes me.
I've been gravitating towards drawing a lot and the work i've been producing has been really fun and exciting. I wanna create a zine and have it published soon, although i'm still not too familiar with how these things work, i understand it but the execution worries me as i'm worried some aspects will be lost in translation once its sent to a printing place.
Hopefully i can turn these drawings into paintings, I've been really into painting lately and want to explore with using oils although i left them in Dundee hahaha. It's just a moment of figuring things out and seeing what I like and I think i'm finally getting somewhere with everything.
